The
City of Redding's Clear Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant is located
at 2200 Metz Road, east of Highway 273 and south of Clear Creek,
at the southern end of Redding, CA. The plant receives wastewater
flows from about 75% of the households and businesses (approximately
65,000 people) in Redding.
Having
served the City of Redding since 1979, the plant is aging and
is reaching its design capacity. Over the course of the next 6
years, the City will be refurbishing the plant, increasing its
treatment capacity, and providing the capability to accommodate
future wastewater flows.
The
primary goal of the project is to provide reliable wastewater
treatment that meets or exceeds all State and Federal regulations
and protects Sacramento River water quality. This project will
upgrade the plant to meet this goal through the year 2025. The
City's objectives in implementing this goal include:
- Provide
consistent, safe operations
- Increase
treatment capacity so the plant can treat wet weather and dry
weather wastewater flows up to 40 million gallons per day (mgd)
- Repair,
rehabilitate, or replace aging equipment
- Enhance
biosolids treatment and disposal options
- Expand
and improve facilities that affect the employees working at
the plant
- Augment
existing odor control measures and enhance odor control capabilities
- Improve
plant energy efficiency
Work
at the plant site will be completed in seven separate Phases,
with Phase One having started construction in October, 2006.
