Construction Phases

This project consists of seven (7) separate Construction Phases (also known as Bid Packages). Please use the links below to learn about each Phase of work.

Overall Project Schedule

Phase 1 (Construction in 2006-2007)

Phase 1 began construction in October, 2006 and will last through October, 2007. This phase includes the following:

  • A new influent wastewater pump to be installed in Influent Pump Station No. 2.
  • A new biofilter odor control system to serve Influent Pump Station Nos. 1 and 2.
  • Replacing the two influent mechanically cleaned bar screens with completely new fine screen units, including a new screenings sluice. Demolition of the belt conveyor.
  • Installation of new screenings processing equipment to wash, dewater, and compact the screenings.
  • Construction of a new chemical storage and feed facility for enhancement of primary treatment performance.
  • Renovation of the existing chlorine and sulfur dioxide storage and feed building.
  • Installation of a new toxic gas scrubber for the chlorine and sulfur dioxide storage and feed building.

    Expected completion date 10/20/2007

Phase 2 (Construction in 2007-2008)

Phase 2 is scheduled to begin construction in August 2007 and last through August, 2008. This phase will include the refurbishment of Facultative Sludge Lagoon Pond 5, the construction of a new north access road, and the construction of a potable water tie-in to the City of Redding's water supply.

Phase 3 (Construction in 2007-2009)

Phase 3 is scheduled to begin construction in November 2007 and continue through November 2009. This phase will include the refurbishment of the existing dissolved air flotation thickener (DAFT); construction of a new DAFT; refurbishment of the existing secondary clarifier, construction of a new secondary clarifier, rehabilitation of the existing primary clarifiers, influent pump station number 1, the existing headworks, and aeration basin; and renovations to the existing filters.

Phase 4 (Construction in 2008-2009)

Phase 4 is scheduled to begin construction in June 2008 and continue through June 2009. Phase 4 will include the construction of a new outfall pipeline and building, and expansion of the existing diffuser.

Phase 5 (Construction in 2009-2010)

Phase 5 is scheduled to begin construction in July 2009 through July 2010. This phase will include the conversion of Pond 1 to two wet weather storage ponds, conversion of Pond 3 to lined facultative sludge lagoons, and conversion of Ponds 2 and 4 to drying beds.

Phase 6 (Construction in 2009-2011)

Phase 6 is scheduled to begin construction in July 2009 and be completed in July 2011. This phase includes the rehabilitation of the existing aeration basin, construction of a new blower building, and expansion of the chlorine system.

Phase 7 (Construction in 2010-2012)

Phase 7 is scheduled to begin construction in October 2010 and continue through April 2012. This phase includes the construction of a new administration and lab building, and the rehabilitation of the non potable water.
